Day 31: trick or treat!

This was Bekahs second Halloween but really it was her first where she understood the concept of CANDY CANDY CANDY!
All in al it was a really great month of October.

I was a fall fairy, Becca was the doing fairy, and Leon revived his wizard of Grid which means he wears my big turban and Arabian robe over his colts.

I'm especially pleased with how the make up and wings turned out

Day 27/28: party food

So party prep this weekend was pretty hectic so that's the reason for the combo post.

So here's some of the party foods we made. Something's worked some didn't

the punch ice cubes worked out great. Using a cheap mask and a couple of gloves we froze hands and a face for our "bloody" punch. I added the green food coloring to help them show up better.

Hand shaped cheese ball,. delicious. Unfortunately i took to long to take the picture

This the original idea picture, I couldnt get a good one of mine. These also turned out great

These were supposed to be glow in the dark cupcakes, more correctly theyre supposed to glow under blacklight. The only trick is to add tonic water to the icing. Supposedly the quinine in the tonic water reacts to blacklight. Except for it didnt at all. I dont know what I could have possibly done wrong but it did not glow.

And finally Jello Shots with gummy worms. The green were margarita and orange were fuzzy navel. Watch out if you do this because the worm really soak up the alchohol.

Day 26: ideas?

As I'm putting the finishing touches on this years halloween costume I realize u haven't done something scary since I was a kid. I did vampire several years in a row and around 12 I started wanting to be less scary more sexy. So barri h pregnancy ( unless I want to up the scare factor on my scarecrow) I'm really trying to come up with something scary. In my search I found this amazing costume from the cover of Pride and Predjudice and Zombies.

Day 25: ghost costumes

One of the cheapest, simplest costumes is the ghost. Simple sheet or elaborate with chains and detailed makeup, and of course there's always the Charlie Brown. Hopefully non of these guys got rocks in their treat bags.

Day 24: fall wreaths

I've always wanted to try my hand at making wreaths. I have so many other projects I like to do for Christmas so halloween seems like a good time to try these out. However after spending time on Pinterest it's clear I'm going to need more wall space.

Day 20/21: purple people eater

So yesterday was super busy an awesome pumpkin patch adventure, followed by my show, a haunted house and delicious chilli. I didn't have time.

Today is my new favorite hat. I've been eyeing this purple fur at hancocks for a while and it finally went on sale. I was going to make it a fuzzy cat hat but its just so amazingly purple and the song is on my Halloween mix. The flaps have pockets for toasty hands and cellphone storage. It's sooooo warm... Billy
If that made no sense you havent seen the 80s movie starring Neil Patrick Harris go do it now. Its eightiestastic

Day 19: costume awards

I love Halloween parties but I hate it when no one dresses up. One sure fire way to encourage costumes is to have a costume contest! Granted the party I go to is mostly other theatre people so it doesn't take much encouragement, but I have been to boring no costume parties.

I my quest for trophies I found that most store bought trophies were pretty boring. Then I saw this awesome idea at dollar store crafts:

We don't need as many categories but this is the first year we're doing the contest, so maybe next yer we'll need more. I only did scariest, funniest, and most creative.

Day 18: costumed kiddos

There's nothing more adorable than kids costumes. Give a child a blanket and he's a super heroes a dollar store crown and they become a grand monarch. Children light up with costumes and their imaginations are endless. Just look at the little guy I made dragon wings for. Sadly there's only one Halloween but I won't let that stop me from filling Bekahs dress up box with all these great ideas I find around the Internet.
